Synopsis

The movie follows four protagonists whose lives intersect in one tension-filled day. The four are a schoolboy Wei Bu, who is on the run after accidentally pushing his classmate, the bully Yu Shuai, down the stairs; the bully`s older brother Yu Cheng, who feels responsible for his friend`s death after sleeping with his wife; another classmate Huang Ling, who has run away from her mother and fallen for the deputy dean; and Wang Jin, a pensioner whose daughter plans to send off to a nursing home. They each long to escape to the northern Chinese city, Manzhouli, where an elephant can be found sitting still and ignoring everything.
