Was a bit of a miss, considering it came out after The Favourite, which was a very strong historical film. Pacing felt a bit slow but there was definitely strong performances by both saoirse (especially) and margot.
Mary and Elizabeth never met! Mary was raised in FRANCE, she would have NEVER have had a Scottish accent let alone a Irish one! They only corresponded through many letters to each other. I don't think I've ever been so angry after seeing a historical film before..lol But the cinematography is beautiful.
Full of palace intrigue and political skulduggery.
Much of the movie is dedicated to Mary’s attempts at becoming the successor to the English throne by Queen Elizabeth I. A full-blooded tale of personal and political rivalries told with wit, flair and passion.
