'Alien Covenant': "It Will Scare The Living Sh*t Out Of You"

'Alien Covenant':

It's been almost 4 decades; 38 years since audiences were first terrified with the original 1979 Sci-Fi Horror Alien film by British film director Ridley Scott. That alien bursting from the chest of John Hurt remains one of cinema's most iconic & unforgettable scenes to date.

The hugely dedicated Alien fans worldwide were delighted when Ridley Scott returned as director in Prometheus. Unfortunately, the focus in Prometheus was more on discovering a new world rather than the scary aspects of the film. With Alien: Covenant, the focus is expected to return to its roots, by returning the focus to the extraterrestrial terrifying horror of the original Alien. In the preview below, Ridley Scott says, "It's going to be everything you wanted in an Alien Film. It will scare the living sh*t out of you" - there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth.

The other cast members have also come out with similar opinions, with Michael Fassbender saying in an interview -  "I have to say, this Alien is going to be - I'm really excited to see it and everybody in the film was saying that there's a film that we all wanna see. It's much scarier than Prometheus, but it's got that sort of same scope as Prometheus, that imminent sort of disaster feel that Alien had. So it's kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I'm really excited to see it, I think it's gonna be super scary, number one. And again, with the massive scope of Prometheus... Yeah, you know once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it's definitely going to bring chills to the cinema."

Danny Mcbride, playing pilot of the USCSS Weyland-Yutani space vessel Covenant also said - "Then I got the script and I’m like this shit is dark! There is no comic relief in this at all. This is a dark horror movie. And that was exciting. To be able to step into something like that and to participate in a way that not relying on things I’d done before"

It seems that the original Alien that thrilled & chilled us all is back, scarier than ever if you trust what the cast & crew have said. In returning to its roots, the movie goes back to what it does best - sending a group of people into uncharted territory armed only with guns to defend themselves against terrifying alien attacks. We already know and love the original Alien film, a classic in our opinion. In remembering the chills we got while watching Alien and with these first-hand accounts; Alien: Covenant promises to be a hair-raising, spine-chilling, petrifying 2 hours at the cinemas that will keep us hanging on tightly to the edge of our seats.
