Let it be known movie lovers – we’re officially declaring last week “Trailer Week”

In case you haven’t heard, more than a dozen trailers for the most exciting upcoming movies were released last week, some even within a few hours of each other. 

Because of the sheer volume of major previews, we’ve taken the liberty of rounding up some of the biggest ones for you. Check them out below and let us know your favourites!

  

A Star Is Born

 

In this remake of the 1937 musical romance of the same name, Bradley Cooper (also director) stars as a seasoned country musician who discovers and falls in love with a struggling artist, played by music superstar Lady Gaga in her first leading role.

Bad Times at the El Royale

Helmed by acclaimed World War Z and The Martian writer Drew Goddard, Chris Hemsworth, Dakota Johnson, Jeff Bridges and Jon Hamm lead an all-star cast in this mystery thriller centred on seven strangers who meet in a dingy hotel over one fateful night.

Bumblebee

 

Set twenty years before the first Transformers, Bumblebee the Autobot takes refuge in a small junkyard, where he meets a teenage girl played by Hailee Steinfeld. Together, the two of them must evade the clutches of a government agency known as Sector 7.

First Man

  

Based on the official biography of Neil Armstrong, the astronaut who became the first man to walk on the Moon, this riveting true story reteams Oscar-winning La La Land director and Ryan Gosling for a first-person account of the greatest space mission in history.

Disregarding the continuity of the previous sequels, Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode comes face-to-face for one final encounter with the serial killer Michael Myers, 40 years after his initial murderous spree on Halloween night.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

 

The final movie in the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, Hiccup and his Night Fury dragon Toothless must leave their dragon utopia and look for a new home to protect everything they’ve grown to treasure. During their search, they meet the female dragon Light Fury.

Mortal Engines

From The Lord of the Rings’ Peter Jackson comes a new post-apocalyptic saga based on the young-adult series of the same name. Set a thousand years after civilization is destroyed, gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth and ruthlessly prey upon smaller traction towns.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

 

In this first-of-its-kind animated superhero adventure, the creative minds behind The LEGO Movie and 21 Jump Street introduces new Spider-Man Miles Morales, who discovers a multiverse known as the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web

  

Claire Foy takes over from Rooney Mara as computer hacker vigilante Lisbeth Salander for Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez’s sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Joined by journalist Mikael Blomkvist, they find themselves caught in a web of cyber criminals.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

The much-anticipated sequel to The LEGO Movie reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new irreverent adventure to save their city from outer space invaders. The battle to defeat them will take Emmet, Lucy and Batman to a strange galaxy where everything is musical.

Widows

Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen and Gone Girl writer Gillian Flynn shepherd an ensemble cast including Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Liam Neeson and Colin Farrell for a blistering tale of four widows who conspire to build a future on their own terms.

Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet

Disney’s ambitious sequel leaves the video arcade world behind and ventures into the Internet, where Ralph and fellow misfit Vanellope must search for a replacement part to save Sugar Rush. Along the way, they encounter new customs and the Disney Princess line-up.
