Synopsis

In 1948, India won its first Olympic medal after its independence. The historic moment was made possible by the nation's hockey team, who went up against the British hockey team on the field. The golden era of Indian hockey is traced in this movie by following the journey of young assistant manager Tapan Das, who dreams of playing for an independent India.

Nice historical sports drama

Overall: 4

Based on India's hockey team before, during and after World War 2, it is a dramatic storytelling of a true story filled with guts and glory. A little bit wayward in the middle due to too much dancing, it nonetheless entertaining, but not a masterpiece like "Dangal".
