Megasaki City, where 12-year-old Atari Kobayashi lives, experiences an outbreak of canine flu, leading the mayor to banish all dogs to a vast garbage-dump called Trash Island. Wanting to find his beloved pet, Atari flies actors the river on his own in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop. There he begins his epic journey while being assisted by a pack of newly-found mongrel friends.
