Synopsis

"Swan Lifts Turtle" is a romantic comedy set in modern Vientiane, Laos. The storyline is based on the Laotian folklore called Swan lifts turtle, in which the turtle cannot fly, but to save his life, the swan helped carry him and fly away into the sky. However, the turtle dies due to his own selfishness. The moral of the folklore is to teach people to not be so full of yourself that you take the person who helped you for granted.
The protagonist is named Tao, which means turtle in Laotian. He was assigned to film a documentary about a peculiar girl named Hong, which means swan in Laotian. Hong is a smart, beautiful girl, who is full of unconditional love for others. She won a scholarship to study abroad, however, she declined the opportunity, because she wants to stay and take care of her mother, who is struck with Alzheimer's disease. Whoever could complete of this documentary project, will be granted a job promotion and a bonus. Such simple task became competitive and daunting due to Hong's extreme camera-phobia.
Driven by the materialistic desire to be successful in life, Tao did everything he could to film this documentary, even if it means tricking or hurting Hong in the process. As the truth unveils, will Tao rise or will he die trying? The story will unfold in this romantic, fun-filled, family movie: "Swan Lifts Turtle".
