The Big Reveal - Star Wars: VIII Is Officially Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Disney has just announced that Star Wars: Episode VIII has officially been named as Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the next chapter alongside an image of the first poster for the film. And so it begins; while fans might have been anxiously anticipating the release of the first trailer, Disney has decided to play coy and give fans just a tiny little peek into the movie with just the title and poster of the December 2017 release. This has been enough to send the internet & social media into a frenzy rife with speculation of who the last Jedi might be since the announcement.

The two most common characters being thrown about as the last Jedi are Luke Skywalker And Rey. But all may not be as it seems. For the uninitiated, the word Jedi can actually be used in both it's singular and plural form so in spite of fans believing that the Jedi may just be one character, that may not actually be the case. Nobody knows right now and the lid is being kept very tightly on the movie. All we know is that the now named Star Wars: The Last Jedi immediately follows the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Mark Hamill who plays Luke Skywalker commented that he liked that the title was "straightforward" and "minimalist". Read into it what you might.
