Synopsis

Money can’t buy happiness, but a sense of comfort can make people put all risks, changes and challenges on hold – these clichés fit director Edward Berger’s three protagonists like a glove.
 
Stefan is a pilot who doesn’t think much about his future; he is bothered by neither his troubled teenage daughter nor news of an illness that forces him to stay grounded. Julia and her husband go on a romantic getaway to Italy, but there is tension, and when Julia rescues a stray dog, repressed feelings find their way to the surface. Tobias is a stay-at-home dad who takes care of his three noisy children while trying to finish his doctorate and also support his sick father.
 
All these characters have traded happiness and their own personal growth for the security, dullness and controllability of daily life. But no matter how hard they try to escape, the various difficulties in their lives will inevitably catch up with them.
