This riveting tale is a delight to watch.
A deliberately paced film with a mournful soundtrack, this will leave you in a contemplative state. Beautiful, poignant, its dialogue is lifted directly from Van Gogh's correspondence with his contemporaries. The hand held camera is used to show his troubled mind...but it was so shaky at points I had to close my eyes.
One of the best cinematic experiences I've had in a long time
This film is just top class. Willem Dafoe acting really carried this whole film and I personally think that he should've won the Best Actor award at the Oscars. The emotions he conveyed through his actions is just wonderful accompanied by the amazing visuals which looked like his painting and the calm soothing music This film is definitely a must watch. It's one of the best drama films I've ever watched in a long time. Believe me I am not really into these films but this one really caught my attention and it exceeded my expectations.
