Empowering and uplifting.

Story: 4 | Acting: 4 | Visual: 4 | Music: 4 | Overall: 4

Colette deals with all manner of things. Sexism, identity, gender, relationships, writing, creativity, voice, sex, deception. The staging is superb, feel like right there in Paris at the turn of the 20th century.

Engaging

Story: 3 | Acting: 5 | Visual: 3 | Music: 4 | Overall: 4

Despite its period setting, the film didn't feel long and distanced. Both Keira Knightley and Dominic West were also rightly cast in their roles. The last segment on Colette's rise to success could be better developed though.
