Synopsis

Philip, an American writer living in exile in London, converses with his wife and other female characters he may have dreamed up: his English mistress, who visits him regularly in the studio that serves as their refuge, a student he loved in another life, a former lover confined to a hospital in New York. Arnaud Desplechin returns with a powerful, haunting story of sex, loyalty, love, and deceit.
