Slow, powerful and incredibly distinct.
The film is packed with Zahler's witty dialog and extreme violence. His screenplay is impressively crafted. Cameos from genre favourites Don Johnson, Udo Kier and Michael Jai White are enjoyable. Gibson is on fine form, retaining his badassery but evoking a slight vulnerability from his turn.
A moving story about 2 detectives despite doing a good job is penalised because of a video. The police department instead of standing up for the men, punished them instead. Talk about justice. The ending imho is not good as it rewarded a convicted felon who got away scot-free to enjoy the ill-gotten gains.
