Hani, a manga artist, she receives an assignment from her boss to start on a new manga release centering on a wooden doll known as the Ishikaori doll. These dolls were carved to capture Yokai, which are supernatural beings that steal young girls` souls. The manga is specifically about a Yokai named Orichi, who captured many souls during the Japanese medieval era in an attempt to escape into the human realm and destroy mankind. Though initially unbothered by this topic, Hani starts to feel uncomfortable when her taxi driver leaves her a mysterious warning and she cannot find her father inside his own home. As more strange events take place, Hani realises she has been trapped inside the Yokai`s realm and has to confront Orichi in order to escape.
