Bowen was a successful finance executive but after going to prison for embezzlement, he is unable to land himself a job following his release. Too embarrassed to go home to his family, he now spends his time at a 24-hour fast food joint, where he encounters others who are in similar predicaments. Despite each of them facing a tough time, they try to help each other improve their lives. Among his new roommates are a mother-daughter pair who has to pay back high-interest loans, a young singer living in temporary shelter, a young runaway, and a man who is scared to go home.
