In a cursed African village, an unusual baby is born. Named Kirikou, he is tiny and can walk and talk immediately after his birth. He wants to free the village from the spell that a sorceress called Karaba has cast, which causes the spring to dry up and the village men to mysteriously go missing. To do so, he goes on a voyage to the Forbidden Mountain. There, he meets the Wise Man of the Mountain, who knows of Karaba and her secrets.
