The Hoover family is a quirky dysfunctional family that consist of Sheryl Hoover, her husband, her brother, her father-in-law, her son, and her daughter. When her daughter is qualified for the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant contest, the whole family decides to head to California in a Volkswagen van to support her. The different characters within the family cause problems during their travel.
