Synopsis

Set in 1940s India, the movie follows four years of famous Urdu author Saadat Hasan Manto`s life. Manto`s stories are widely read and accepted in Bombay but he has to leave when violence erupts in the nation. He moves to Lahore, where his life starts spiralling down. He has no friends there and no takers for his stories. His alcoholism gets worse but he continues to write.
