Mohammed is 18. He has fled to Germany from the war in Palestine and is now looking for direction in a world of men: There’s the gruff, straight-lined head of the motorcycle garage in which he helps out, then a colleague who tells him of his experiences in the Foreign Legion, and above all his charismatic and psychotic older brother Lakhdar. Without their parents, the two live in the dilapidated former family home in Berlin-Tegel. Airplanes constantly thunder over the house. Between precarious work and the hope of an education, heroic tales of camaraderie and his own memories of war as well as the mistaken delirium and muddled advice of his brother, the question is raised: What does it really mean to be a man? The semi-documentary film was developed under close contact with the two main characters and takes us into the eventful world of a young man who gets caught in a constant cycle of hope and disappointment until he can no longer stand it.
