10 Interesting Facts About 'Alien: Covenant' You Didn’t Know

Popcorn - News - 12 May 2017

1) The movie was originally named "Alien: Paradise Lost" but was later changed to "Alien: Covenant". Which do you prefer?

2) It is the sequel to the 2012 film Prometheus, the second installment in the Alien Prequel series, the sixth installment overall in the Alien film series, and the third installment to be directed by Ridley Scott. Confusing isn't it? Our solution, go catch them all...

3) Katherine Waterston borrowed Matt Damons's hair weave that he used in the film, The Martian. She said," I had just come from a press tour in Tokyo. They had to put Matt Damon's extensions from The Martian in my hair because I had slightly lighter hair." That's a good recycling tip, reuse props from previous movies!

4) This will be the second film that Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterston have appeared in together. The first being Steve Jobs (2015). We don't quite recall that, do you?

5) There will be a terrifying Chestbuster scene. Ridley Scott teased an iconic birthing scene in Alien: Covenant that will out-do the burster scene in the original 1979 Alien. Wow, that scene remains in our mind till this day; we look forward to seeing if he can top that scene.

6) This will be the first time since Alien: Resurrection (1997) that the original Xenomorph will be seen exclusively in an Alien film. Based on the advances in technology since 1997, we expect our Alien to be better and more horrifying than ever.

7) A Covenant is an agreement or a promise. In biblical terms, the Covenant between God and Israel was a promise by God to never again wipe clean the Earth as he has done in the flood. It was an agreement that the Israelites would follow God's commandments, and God would justly judge those who broke them. It is possible that the "covenant" in this title refers to an agreement between the Engineers and humanity, or perhaps that the Engineers have been or planned to wipe out other species via a "flood" of their own creation. So much speculation we think.

8) Rebecca Ferguson was considered for the lead role, but Katherine Waterston was eventually cast. Rebecca went on to get the lead in another alien film, the recent "Life". If you at first you don't succeed...

9) It's the only film in the Alien franchise to contain Nudity. This scene above perhaps?

10) They've broken the alphabetic pattern for their artificials 1. Ash 2. Bishop 3. Bishop 4. Call 5. David 6. Walter. Guess they figured that they probably wouldn't be making enough Alien films to get to the end of the alphabet?
