Interstellar and The Martian star Jessica Chastain has confirmed her interest in playing the grown-up Beverly Marsh in It: Chapter Two, the sequel to the horror breakout hit of the year.
The actress, who worked with director Andy Muschietti on his 2013 directorial debut Mama, revealed in an interview that "anything that [Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti] are doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen."
It: Chapter Two takes place 27 years later and revisits the "Losers Club" as adults, who must return to their native Maine to face their worst nightmares once again.
It: Chapter Two opens in cinemas on 5 September 2019.

Director Joe Johnston (Jumanji, Captain America: The First Avenger) has revealed that the upcoming fourth instalment of The Chronicles of Narnia franchise, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair, will be his last project before retiring.
Set to arrive in late 2019, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair will be a complete reboot of the series rather than a sequel. According to producer Mark Gordon, the film will be the start of a brand new franchise, featuring "all original characters, different directors, and an entire new team."

Derek Connolly, whose previous writing credits include Jurassic World, Kong: Skull Island and the much-maligned Monster Trucks, has been hired to pen the upcoming adaptation of Hideo Kojima's iconic Metal Gear Solid video game.
He joins director Jordan Vogt-Roberts in the project, which is expected to kick off an R-rated Metal Gear universe following the adventures of special forces operatives Solid Snake and Big Boss.

Lead producers Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan have left Universal Pictures' Dark Universe franchise, further casting doubt on the future of a shared universe which would eventually include Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, and more.
Under the helm of Kurtzman, the Tom Cruise-headlined The Mummy was both a critical and financial disappointment, setting Universal back around US$95 million.
Understandably, Universal is said to be "exploring its options" instead of shelving the Dark Universe altogether, and studio execs are rumoured to be in talks with Blumhouse magnate Jason Blum to revive the concept.

Lucasfilm has announced that Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson will be developing a new trilogy in the Star Wars universe that lies outside the Skywalker Saga.
Speaking about the deal, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said: "We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi. He's a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy."
While release dates have not been announced, the first of Johnson's trilogy could come as soon as 2021.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in cinemas on 14 December 2017.
