After months of anticipation following a blurry leaked clip in late 2025, Sony and Marvel have officially dropped the first full trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day—and it was worth the wait.
The film is set to hit theaters on July 31 and marks Tom Holland's return as the web-slinger for the first time since the 2021 blockbuster No Way Home, which pulled in more than $1.9 billion worldwide.
A Fan-Powered Reveal
Sony unveiled the trailer in a uniquely creative fashion. Rather than a standard YouTube drop, the studio partnered with Spider-Man fans around the world, releasing short preview snippets across various social media accounts ahead of the full reveal. The campaign culminated with Holland unveiling the complete trailer from atop the Empire State Building on Wednesday morning.
What's in the Trailer?
The trailer opens with Peter Parker perched on a skyscraper, quietly watching a video of his former friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) — people who no longer remember him. In voiceover, Peter introduces himself to a world that has forgotten he exists, acknowledging the painful sacrifice he made to protect everyone he loves.
According to the film's official synopsis, four years have passed since No Way Home, and Peter is now living entirely alone — a full-time Spider-Man in a city that doesn't know his name. The pressure of crime-fighting ultimately triggers a mysterious physical evolution that threatens his very existence.
To understand what's happening to his body, Peter turns to Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) for answers, while also tangling with returning villain Scorpion (Michael Mando) and clashing with the Punisher (Jon Bernthal).
A Darker, More Grounded Spider-Man
The footage carries a notably darker, more slow-burning tone compared to Holland's previous outings — a departure that reflects the change in director. Shang-Chi helmer Destin Daniel Cretton steps in for Jon Watts, who directed the original trilogy. When filming wrapped late last year, Cretton publicly praised Holland's dedication, calling it the most rewarding project of his career.
The Cast
Alongside Holland, Zendaya, and Batalon, the film adds Sadie Sink in a still-mysterious role that has already sparked significant fan theories, plus Severance's Tramell Tillman and Marvin Jones III as gangster Tombstone.
Notably, Brand New Day is also reported to serve as a prelude to the much-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, due in December, and is Holland's final film under his current standalone Spider-Man contract.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens exclusively in theaters on July 31, 2026.
