This Korean adventure film follows a boy, Deok-Su, who lost his father and younger sister while attempting to escape from a war zone. With his remaining family members, they make their way to the Southern port city of Busan. They live there as war refugees with his aunt. During their stay in Busan, Deok-Su remembers and keeps the promise he made to his father at the war zone, which is to protect and take care of his family. The young boy's vow marked the beginning of a lifelong promise spanning 60 years.
