Just watched this gem of a movie and felt that I simply had to document it in words. This is not your typical family drama, it runs much deeper than that. You'll find yourself questioning many issues portrayed along the way and reflecting on how the real world really works versus what could have been. It delves into moral dilemmas - many of which take a darker turn as the movie plods along. The big reveal may not have been what we were expecting but by then, you'd have been more than invested in this quirky and lovable family. Without giving anything else away, this is one ride that I won't be forgetting about anytime soon.
It’s a deep, touching film that asks its audience to reflect on where they belong, and on what belongs to them. You don’t get to choose your own family, but family is still a choice that you have to make over and over again, each and every day.
Great and heartwarming film that showed a different side of life in Japan. Portrayal of a struggling family that is not tied by blood and questions the meaning of family, motherhood and poverty. The acting of sakura ando was particularly striking, especially in the scene where she was interrogated. Definitely recommend this movie, if slice of life genre of movies is your thing.
Ok so this show is about shoplifters and they happen to shoplift as a family. Entirely in Japanese but with English subtitles. It was a good show. Very different from Hollywood movies but still good!
