Synopsis

This 1972 Soviet science fiction film is based on the 1961 novel of the same name by Stanisław Lem. It tells of a psychologist who is sent to a space station, which orbits a planet called Solaris, in order to investigate the death of a doctor. While there, he also has to look into the mental problems of cosmonauts on the station. He soon finds a surprising discovery: the water on Solaris has the ability to bring out one`s repressed memories and obsessions.
