Aside from their age, 12-year-old Marguerite and Margot have one more thing in common: their respective father is no longer around. The difference is one is not living at home, the other vanished during World War II. They have plenty of other differences, but the main one is none other than the year they live in, since one of them lives in 2020 and the other in 1942. The girls meet each other after coming across a mysterious wooden chest that transports them to each other`s era. Despite their different fashion styles, their family members and friends do not notice when they swap places with each other as they both look very similar. Though 70 years apart, the girls embark on a wild quest to find their present while exploring their families` memories and history.
