Really enjoyed watching this movie! A fun watch for audiences who read the book! I did not mind the length of the movie and its understandable because the book is 900+ pages long. Really well acting done by the cast as well and the cinematography was excellent. The parallels between young Theo and Boris and adult Theo and Boris was great, it added a lot of meaning to the characters. The music used in the show also makes a lot of sense when you pay attention to the lyrics. Overall, really great and smart movie.

Very depressing movie.
Every joy is followed by despair. The cast is so talented and amazing. Luke Wilson is great as the father. Peter Straughan's screenplay strives to include as much of the story and intrigue as possible.

Surprised at the reviews...
This film is getting slaughtered by critics, but I personally found it quite good! I think for this movie, you definitely have had to read the book, or the jumping chronology will make you very confused. Because I read the book, I understood everything that was happening, and this was a very faithful rendition of the novel. Granted, I do agree with some who says that it might have done better as a miniseries rather than a movie, given the depth and density of the novel. Nevertheless, I still think this was a valiant effort, and I do largely disagree with the critics for this film.

It doesn't deserve the hate it's getting from critics.
The cinematography is breathtaking. The actors did a great job especially Oakes playing Theo. Although it didn't meet everyone's expectations because of the INCREDIBLE book its based on they did a good job trying. Keep in mind the book is almost 900 pages long. The casting was really good too!! I overall enjoyed it.
