Synopsis

Jay Chou's second directorial feature, in which he also stars alongside real-life buddy Alan Kuo. Wax is a young chap living in a 1970s fantasy retro world. He stays in a unique neighborhood located on the rooftop of a row of buildings. It is a slum to many, but for Wax, it is a home filled with warmth and vibrancy. Wax works in Po's traditional medicine hall with his two other friends. The gang of three often get into fights with Big Red, the notorious neighborhood bully. One day, Wax and his friends rescue a girl who happens to be Starling, Wax's idol. The story unfolds as Starling gets to know these rowdy bunch living at the rooftop and eventually falls for Wax despite living in drastically different worlds. Meanwhile, Big Red then plans his revenge on Wax.
