From Ryoo Seung Wan the visionary director of 'Veteran' and 'The Berlin File' As World War II nears its end, the small island of Hashima (aka 'Battleship Island') off the coast of Nagasaki is the site of a massive coal mine where 400 Koreans live in deplorable conditions as conscripted laborers. Lee Gang Ok (Hwang Jung Min) the musician and his daughter Sohee (Kim Suan), Choi Chil Sung (So Ji Sub) a gangster from Seoul, Park Mu Young (Song Joong Ki) the secret agent, & Mallyon (Lee Jung Hyun) the brave woman. Then, just as the island’s dark secrets are revealed, the Koreans plot a dramatic escape.
