Masterpiece

Burning is beautiful, the cinematography and the calmness within this film is something to behold. The metaphorical excellence that presents throughout as the film progress is brilliantly executed. Burning leaves you with questions, and doesn’t feel the needs to explain. It wants the audience to find clues by themselves in small details, through Ben’s facial expressions, through small events that happen throughout the film, and by the end, you are left mostly impressed and also dumbfounded.

Slow and twists
Overall: 5
This is a slow drama that intensifies gradually over time, until it reaches a powerful and shocking crescendo.

Water takes time to boil because it takes time to burn. Just like how this movie plot burns and progresses

The first time, the movie transcends the original
Overall: 4
The film is based on Murakami's short story "burning down the barn". Last month, I heard that the film got the highest score in the Cannes Film Festival. After watching this film, it does have an advantage in the narrative structure and the movement of movie shot.

Up to interpretation
Overall: 4
The movie requires alot of self-interpretation with little clues here and there, mainly through Ben’s facial expressions. The movie progresses slowly and intensifies towards the end. Oh and there are quite a few nude scenes as well~
