Platform highlights romantic drama, action-comedies, and acclaimed director's return
Netflix revealed four feature films as part of its 2026 South Korean content lineup during an Asia Pacific showcase event this week, underscoring the streaming giant's continued investment in Korean cinema.
"Local investment" has been key to Netflix's success in South Korea, according to Minyoung Kim, the company's vice president of content for APAC. Speaking at the showcase, which featured over 30 mostly television titles, Kim credited the strategy with elevating Korean content—including global phenomenon Squid Game—to unprecedented heights.
Don Kang, Netflix's VP of content for Korea, noted that Korean-language programming has become the platform's most-viewed content globally after English. "Over the past five years, more than 210 Korean titles have been ranked in the global top 10," he said.
