Synopsis

A gifted young drummer from a poor untouchable family yearns to learn the art of playing the mridangam (indian percussion instrument) from the top Maestro. He faces rejection from the classical music community as well as from his family. Can his talent overcome caste system and social boundaries in today's India? Sarvam thaalamayam is the third movie by award winning Rajiv Menon. It is a coming of age story set in India’s social and musical landscape. Following the face-off between the protagonist and his master, we travel from the fascinating high-brow world of Carnatic music to modern reality TV shows.
