Synopsis

A World War II documentary by director Fang Li that chronicles an obscure event in 1942 whereupon an unmarked Japanese troop transport ship, The Lisbon Maru, which transported more than 1,800 British prisoners of war (POWs) from Hong Kong to Japan - was torpedoed by a U.S. submarine. Nearly 380 British POW were then saved by the heroic efforts of nearby Chinese fishermen who then sheltered these prisoners from Japanese forces.
