Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and Marvel Studios has unveiled the first trailer for Captain Marvel, a superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, and the 21st film in the MCU.
Set in the mid-1990s, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers (Brie Larson, Kong: Skull Island), a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, as she turns into one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes and joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with new questions about her past and identity when the Earth is caught in the center of an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds.
The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg, reprising their roles as Nick Fury and Agent Phil Coulson, as well as Guardians and the Galaxy villains Lee Pace (Ronan the Accuser) and Djimon Hounsou (Korath the Pursuer). Joining them are newcomers Ben Mendelsohn (Ready Player One) as Talos, the shape-shifting leader of the Skrull invasion of Earth, Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians) as Kree sniper Minn-Erva, and Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Danvers' mentor in Starforce.
